Refrigerant sales are regulated in the United States. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency states that sales of ozone-depleting refrigerants and non-ozone-depleting substitutes used as refrigerants are restricted, with limited exceptions.
Purchase eligibility
Depending on the refrigerant and intended use, eligible purchasers may include appropriately certified Section 608 or Section 609 technicians, employers or authorized representatives of certified technicians, and qualifying wholesalers or resellers. Certification scope matters: stationary equipment and motor-vehicle A/C are covered by different programs.
What to expect when ordering
We may request current documentation before an order is fulfilled. An order confirmation does not waive eligibility requirements. Product, container type, intended use, purchaser status, and destination can affect the review.
